To let water in and out of the boat in a controlled fashion (!).
 
1. Brass Drains
Fitted through the hull.
2. Bronze Drains
With leather washer, fitted from inside the hull
3. Captive Drain
A bit fiddly to fit, but has the advantage that you don't lose the bung. Max hull thickness 3/4", supplied complete with bolts
